General Director Christopher Mattaliano reimagines this popular opera for the intimate Newmark stage. Making his Portland Opera debut as Prince Ramiro is Australian tenor Alasdair Kent. Kent has had great success in vocal competitions around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Paris Opera Competition, among others. Also highlighting the cast is Eduardo Chama as the buffoonish stepfather, Don Magnifico. Chama was last seen on the Portland Opera stage as the title character in Falstaff in 2013.

Cenerentola has gone by many names—Cendrillon, Aschenputtel, Angelina—but you might know her best as Cinderella. Cinderella’s stepfather, Don Magnifico, is a buffoon. Her stepsisters, Clorinda and Tisbe, are cruel. Our heroine spends each day working as a chambermaid, until one fateful day when she falls in love with a prince.
A storybook tale that is sure to charm audience members who are young, and young at heart, this new production of Rossini’s classic opera will glitter as brightly as Cinderella’s royal ball gown.
Sung in Italian with English text projected above the stage.
Tickets start at $35. View seating map for the Newmark Theatre.
